That was the most difficult for me.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> Which skill did you focus on the most during your learning?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> I focused the most on SQL. SQL is very fast and efficient, so I put a lot of focus there. I did work a lot in Python too, but it felt very high-level for me.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> What tools and topics were covered in your course?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> It was a total five-month course, starting from basic to advanced: Advanced Excel, then SQL, Power BI, and of course Python and AI, all from very basic to advanced.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> Coming from a non-technical background, what helped you the most during the course, lectures or projects?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> Lectures were of course very important. I used to watch offline classes and then rewatch online if I had doubts. But specially, the projects were very helpful. Projects give you real-world experience. Because of projects, I understood what actually happens in real companies. Shifting from a medical\/biology background to an IT environment was very difficult initially, but since WsCube Tech taught from basics, I felt relaxed that I was understanding something. Staying consistent and working on projects was a must.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> How many projects did you complete during the course?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> I did all the WsCube Tech projects. As far as I remember, around 6 to 8 projects, and I submitted all of them on time. After that, when we shifted more to AI, projects became fewer because the Python\/AI part was more difficult for me. But I definitely completed 6 to 8 projects on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> How many hours did you study daily apart from offline classes?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> Honestly, about 1 to 1.5 hours. Since my classes were during the day and my home was a bit far, I\u2019d go half an hour early, then attend 1 to 1.5 hours of class, come back, rest a bit, and then study another 1 to 1.5 hours in the evening. That was enough for me because my mind was clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> Can you explain your role, Operations Analyst at Stockverse, in simple words?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> I work at a trading company where we have a 20-person sales team. We basically have enormous data of these salespeople, and we have to organize it. First, we clean the data and organize it. <strong>Then we move to Power BI: <\/strong>we create dashboards and visualize the data. The second part is conversion tracking, how much conversion each salesperson has done, who is in the top five, etc. We do all these things in Excel and Power BI. So basically, it\u2019s a mixture of Advanced Excel and Power BI.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> In your current role, which tools do you use the most?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> Almost all the time, I use Excel and Power BI. Not really SQL or Python right now, because currently we are only on Power BI and Advanced Excel. We do use Excel with some automation to make things easier.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> In your day-to-day work, where do you spend most of your time, data cleaning, dashboarding, or meetings?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> Most time goes into segregating and organizing the data because it\u2019s very messed up and unorganized. That takes time. Meetings and Power BI dashboards happen once a week or once a month, where we collect all data, bring it to the dashboard, and tell the team: \u201cThis was our sales; this is where we stand right now.\u201d So yes, cleaning takes more time. If your formulas are strong, it becomes easier.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> Tell us about your interview experience. How did you apply, and how did you secure this role?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> When we talk about interviews, this was my first interview ever, so there was nervousness. But I had gained enough confidence that even if I didn\u2019t know something, I could answer confidently. At WsCube Tech, they teach you to be very confident. In my first interview, they asked me many formulas, copy-paste formulas, advanced IFs, and so on. They also asked how I create a dashboard, how I visualize things, and \u201cwhat if we are stuck in the current situation?\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For applying, I applied at many places. I created a proper LinkedIn profile, made profiles on Indeed, and kept applying regularly. Then I came across this company, applied, and got an interview call. The first time I got such a call, I thought, \u201cIs this fake or real?\u201d After gathering information, I realized it\u2019s real. I was nervous, so I instantly contacted my mentors and asked them to brief me. They helped me a lot and told me to prepare certain formulas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> How helpful were your course projects in the interview?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> Projects were very helpful. I explained two to three projects that we did during the course, mostly Excel-based. That was really impressive for them, that I had done so many course projects.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> Was it a walk-in interview? How was that experience?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> Yes, it was a walk-in interview. I was very nervous, shivering, thinking, \u201cWill I get selected or not?\u201d But when they started communicating, they made me relax. They said, \u201cJust relax, there\u2019s no issue if you\u2019re nervous. Answer calmly; there\u2019s no problem.\u201d Their support was very good; they made me comfortable.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> What kind of technical questions did you face in Excel?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> In Excel, they gave me a dataset of salespeople with their enrollments and payments. They asked me to separate them and extract specific information. I showed them some formulas, copy-paste techniques, conditional formatting, and charts. They also asked: \u201cIf our sales continue at this speed, what will happen in the next one year?\u201d They also asked two to three case-study type questions: \u201cIf we have this situation, what would you do?\u201d That\u2019s where data visualization really helps.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> What Power BI questions were asked?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> For Power BI, they mainly asked: \u201cHow do you create a dashboard?\u201d Since it was my first interview and I was nervous, they kept it basic. They asked me to explain which charts I would use, how I would gather everything, and how I would add dropdowns\/filters to show the full dashboard. So they asked only the basics.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> Had you given any other interviews before this?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> No, this was my first-ever interview.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> How important is communication in interviews, in your opinion?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> I think more than 50 to 55%. Communication is a major thing. Even if I didn\u2019t know 2 to 3 questions, I confidently said, \u201cNot today, I\u2019m not prepared for this, but if I get experience, I will surely learn it.\u201d So confidence matters a lot.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> It\u2019s been around 8 months since you started. What new things have you learned about the corporate world?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> Everything was new for me, Excel, how people talk, how meetings are conducted. Corporate life is completely different from real life.<strong> Every day I learn something new: <\/strong>how to work, in what manner to work, etc. I\u2019ve learned many things after joining here.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> For a fresher from a non-technical background, which skill do you think is most important for a Data Analyst?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> All skills are important, but it depends on your stage. If I\u2019m a fresher, I feel Excel and Power BI are more important, including SQL, because SQL makes everything easy, cleaning, extraction, etc. As you move from fresher to advanced, Power BI and AI become more important, and you use more advanced tools. In our office, people with 2 to 3 years of experience use Power BI, Python, and SQL more deeply.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> What advice would you give to freshers or career switchers based on your journey?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> <strong>My advice is: <\/strong>it doesn\u2019t matter which background you come from. If you want to survive in today\u2019s environment, AI and Data Analytics courses are very important. Second, consistency is very important. If it feels difficult, don\u2019t quit; difficulty means you\u2019re learning. Third, projects are the main thing. The better you do your projects and focus on them, the better your interviews will be. Ask as many doubts as possible, stay active, and be consistent.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> In your current role, how much do you use AI?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> As a fresher, I\u2019m still learning from more experienced people in my job. I\u2019m observing how they use AI. I\u2019ve learned quite a bit about running APIs, etc. If you need to create dashboards, you can drop a prompt to AI and it generates the query\/logic. So I\u2019m still in progress with AI, but I\u2019ve learned a lot.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> What are your next career steps? Do you plan to move into Data Science\/Engineering or stay in Analytics?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> <strong>My path is fixed: <\/strong>I will go deeper into Data Analytics. I want to become much better in SQL, perfect my Python, and go deeper in analytics. In Pharmacy too, clinical research has a major role for data analysis. If you go deep in one field, I feel you can expect higher salary packages. So I will continue in Data Analytics.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ayushi:<\/em><\/strong><em> Any feedback for our team to improve the experience for students like you?<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nandini:<\/strong> I already said this was my correct decision.
